Alipay Use Rises

During the eight-day National Day holiday break, the number of Chinese consumers using online payment method Alipay abroad increased by about seven times and per capita spending rose by 50%. According to Ant Financial Services Group about 44% of consumers who used Alipay abroad were born after 1990. Alipay and WeChat have been expanding their overseas presence since late 2016 in a bid to meet the increasing demand for shopping from Chinese travelers.
