China has constructed a solar farm shaped like a giant panda. The farm will have a capacity of 100 megawatts when fully connected and will provide 3.2 billion kilowatt-hours of green electricity in 25 years. The plant was backed by the United Nations Development Program to help involve and engage young people with sustainable development. “Designing the plant in the shape of a panda could inspire young people and get them interested in the applications of solar power,” states Li Yuan, Panda Green Energy CEO. Young Chinese candidates will participate in summer camps at the panda power stations, which will give them a deeper understanding of the importance of green energy.
