Uniqlo Plans China Expansion

Uniqlo, a casual wear designer that has developed into one of Japan’s most iconic brands, plans to operate more stores in China than in its home country by 2020. The company hopes to have 1,000 stores in China and has introduced a fast-track training scheme to bring enough store managers up to speed to achieve this goal. By the end of May, Uniqlo had about 540 outlets in 120 Chinese cities, and so far, stores have opened at a rate of about 100 per year.
