BRI Influences SDGs

China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) represents an opportunity to build a shared vision for prosperity via regional cooperation. Former United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan once said, “There is no long-term security without development.” Many believe the BRI will act as an accelerator for achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). The BRI vision covers a broad population of about 4.4 billion people with a collective economic output of US$21 trillion. One of the initiative’s key strengths is that it targets recipient countries’ development gaps.
