Impacts of VPN Removal

Chinese authorities addressed concerns about the removal of VPNs, and state this change will not impact law-abiding individuals. “Our measures aim to better-regulate the behavior of China’s VPN market, and they will only target unregistered businesses and individuals providing VPN services for cross-border use,” states Ministry of Industry and Information Technology Chief Engineer Zhang Feng. Authorities respect the fact that some companies require a VPN for office work, and these businesses will be granted access to a VPN service via a registered provider.
